Varun built a business ground up and sold it to a financial institution. The company hired a new CEO whose style of working was cut throat and direct - Varun could not handle that kind of pressure, so he decided to move out.
He now got an opportunity and moved to a new country to lead another business. While he knew his work and was doing a good job - his speed was slowing down by 50% because he would find himself going into anxious, fearful, doubtful and lonely states very often.
He is 34, the eldest in his family and had self inflicted pressure would feel pressured and burdened to not fail.
Varun had this internal strategy of taking a situation and turning it into very harsh metaphors for himself (for eg: if someone asked him a question assertively, he would get too associated and emotional and then in his head create a picture of someone pushing him to the corner). We call this organ language. Varun would use organ language in every third sentence.
Now, here is what would happen; unconsciously he would create pictures like this in his head over and over again … around 1000 times a day. (for eg: If someone asks him for something in an assertive tone, he would translate that to a metaphor where he was being pushed to the corner. And he would physically feel this in his body.) Now, this unconscious process would go on and on in his head.
This boy is the Ex Sports Captain of his school. Most times, when you see people who are outliers in sports - they have a fit vibe even years later, even if they don’t continue to play or work out. This boy looked drained and tired.
The most key adjustment that we did for him was to stop this unconscious process and be able to maintain a high performance state and be objective even in challenging situations.
We also interrupted his unresourceful states of feeling lonely, feeling burdened and not feeling like he is carrying the weight on his shoulders. This allowed him to do what he is doing with ease and let his natural creativity flow.
One of the other core beliefs that he had was that he had to be disciplined and structured in business (he would put a lot of pressure on himself to do this - and it would exhaust him). While discipline and structure is very resourceful in certain contexts - he was not allowing himself to be guided by intuition. We used specific procedures for him to be disciplined, structured and yet be in continuous flow, have access to superior altered start AND be guided by intuition.
One of the other core capabilities we helped him develop was the ability to understand the other persons mindset easily (we call this a perceptual position) for him to develop deeper insights, learn from other peoples life experiences and continue to finetune his intuition.
He went from looking tired and burdened to radiant and charismatic! He understood the core of the new industry he got into, automated the functions, mentored two people who could lead the organization - all of this in just 6 months.
He came back to India for his and his sisters wedding and managed to operate the entire business easily just through his phone. He is now connecting with key business leaders in the new country and working towards creating a new industry that would lead to the country potentially generating billions of dollars (while his net worth continues to grow).
